Soundcraftsmen DX4200 *low noise edition*
SERVICED:
*all electrolytic capacitors replaced with quality capacitors.
*replaced phono input caps with metalized film, and electrolytics with low leakage/noise types
*installed new sliders and PCBs
*remelted and added solder to every switch pin
*lubed & cleaned switches and potentiometers
*replaced all opamp IC chips with new Texas Instruments
*added decoupling caps to all IC chips
*calibrated comparator LEDs and gain with signal generator
*cover, side panels, and handles repainted
*cleaned and tested
This is a special "low noise" modified unit. When I opened it up the first time, I found someone had added large filter caps for both the preamp and EQ sections. As well as an EMI line filter, and a pair of chokes on the DC side. It initially tested at 103dB S/N, which is about 5dB better that usual stock figures. After my additional mods and new parts, it now tests at 106.7 dB relative to 2V. A very quiet machine! Combined with new sliders and paint, this is a beautiful piece.
This model is a preamp and equalizer combination with Differential-Comparator and phono Cartidge-Match systems. It has Auto-Bridge which allows bridging with any common amp setup. It had all electrolytic capacitors replaced with high quality capacitors. All switches and pots were sprayed with deoxit and worked. and all new sliders. Plus a fresh paint job.
FEATURES:
*dual 10 band +/-15dB eq
*Differential/Comparator Unity Gain with LED balance
*Sub-sonic filter -3dB @ 15hz, 12dB/octave rolloff
*Auto-Bridge
*Cartridge-Match variable capacitance and impedance for cartridge matching.
*two mono phono preamps with individual phono input level adjustments
*moving coil cartridge inputs
*three way tape dubbing
*low impedance headphone output
*front panel tape loop input and outputs
*two signal processor loops
